It does take an additional piece of equipment (5 Port) with HB, but I am not familiar enough with Lowrance to know what is/isn't required in there networking. Take full advantage of the generous 15.4' touchscreen display with customizable views and settings that allow you to see multiple technologies at once. As far as networking, the Solix networks great with other HB's, especially other Solix's because you can share one map card, as well as MK products. The SOLIX 15 CHIRP MSI+ G3 combines cutting-edge technologies like MEGA Side Imaging+, MEGA Down Imaging+, Dual Spectrum CHIRP Sonar and AutoChart Live on an ultra-clear Cross Touch® display. Nothing negative to say about Helix, they were great units but I switched to the Solix on console because of the waypoint marking. I am sure the HDS Live is nice, and if you are familiar with Lowrance it is probably great, but I am just more comfortable with HB and I absolutely love the Solix. I tried the HDS out for a few months because I ahd heard how much better the 2d was, but I didnt notice a big difference and the lack of communication between console and bow just aggravated me. The SOLIX 15 SI features a large 15.4' display with LED backlight, CHIRP-ing MEGA Side Imaging, MEGA Down Imaging and 2D sonar. Now I am back to the Solix console and Helix bow until i can replace the helix with another Solix. I started with 2 Helix's, went to a Helix and Solix, then experimented with an HDS Gen 3.
